Black Hills Community Economic Development is proud to nominate Jim Ross, Belle Fourche, for the state’s Excellence in Economic Development Award.
The award winner will be announced by Governor Mike Rounds in April, at the Governor’s Economic Development Conference in Pierre.
This year marks Jim’s 25th year as a member of the Belle Fourche Development Corporation Committee. He served six years on Belle’s city council.
“I just keep going to meetings,” he recently observed. Actually, Jim does a good deal more than that. Colleagues say he’s never hesitant to take the initiative. For example, when community members expressed worries about the ProEco Energy ethanol plant within Belle’s city limits, Jim drove to Wyoming to research issues at a similar plant.
Jim worked as Belle Fourche Daily Post photographer and photo engraver, and for the company that’s now American Colloid. He was an active businessman with MSI/TruCatch Traps until 1999.
